Your Veterinary Surgeon may prescribe veterinary medicinal products only for the animals under his/her care and following a clinical assessment of the animal.
The general policy of The Minster Equine Veterinary Practice is to re-assess the horse/pony requiring a repeat prescription at least every 6 months but this may vary with individual circumstances. When you request any medication or written prescription, your horse’s medical history will be checked.
The clinical history may advise for a consultation to be carried out to check your horse’s health or if they have not been seen within the last 6 months. This may be carried out at the practice premises or a visit to your yard.
The standard charge for the examination is £58.34. If a blood sample is required, this will incur an additional charge. If you choose to have your horse examined at your yard, a visit fee will be payable.
You can obtain the relevant medicinal products from us or have a written prescription for £25.00 which will allow you to obtain the drugs from another veterinary practice or pharmacy. Please allow 72 hours’ notice when ordering drugs or written prescriptions to enable us enough time to process the request and have a Veterinary Surgeon authorise your request. You may ask the price of any drugs.
Horses on our Premium Health Plan are entitled to 2 six-monthly long-term medication check-ups annually and an extra 10% discount on selected long term medications.
We regret to inform our clients that we are unable to accept any returned medication for refund/replacement in our pharmacy. We are compelled to destroy any returned medication. Please consider this when ordering and collecting medicines for your horse.
