We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Equine Nursing Assistant to join our team based primarily at the Poppleton clinic near York.
The Nursing Assistant role is an active and interesting one with a varied daily schedule. Previous experience in the veterinary industry is not required as training will be provided, however the ability to confidently handle a wide range of horses is essential, along with having excellent standards of equine care and customer service.
This role is full-time (40 hrs per week). This is a permanent position with out of hours requirements on a rota basis during weeknights and weekends. Due to the on-call/out-of-hours requirements you must live within 30 minutes of the Poppleton practice (YO26 6QF).
Duties will include:
  •  Caring for in-patients and undertaking general stable duties
  •  Assisting vets with procedures in the clinic and out on the road
  • Stock management
  • Cleaning equipment and examination areas
  •  Lab work e.g. performing worm egg counts and running blood tests (full training provided)
  •  Assisting the reception team answering the phone and some administrative tasks
  •  Monitoring patients overnight and staying at the clinic when required
Essential Skills/Qualifications
  •  Maths & English GCSEs (Grade C/4 or higher)
  •  Full UK Drivers License and own transport
  •  Horse handling experience (leading, restraining and lunging all types of horses confidently)
  • Sound knowledge of horses and horse care
  • Knowledge of foaling and breeding would be advantageous
  • Computer / IT literate
  • Excellent communication skills
Salary: £19,760.00 per year
