Developing the vets of the future

Minster Equine, York

New Graduate Position (12-months)
£competitive + onsite accommodation in York + mobile

Following from recent additions to the VetPartners group, we are changing the role and responsibilities of our new graduate position.

We are now seeking to employ a hard working new graduate with a passion for equine veterinary medicine to be our house vet.

During this 12-month position you will grow in confidence as part of a close-knit practice team. You will develop the diverse range of skills you need to become a first-rate equine vet who is confident and proficient in diagnosing and treating common diseases encountered in equine veterinary practice.

As the successful applicant you will assist experienced clinicians with diagnostic lameness and medicine investigations, both out on the road and within our 3 clinics across North Yorkshire. After a primary training period, you will attend routine ambulatory calls and when confident, emergencies.

You will be trained in radiography, ultrasonography and lameness diagnosis, including performing nerve blocks and will develop medical skills with abdominal ultrasonography, gastroscopy and endoscopy cases.

Initially you will not be expected to attend out-of-hours visits, but will have responsibilities for in-patients on a 1-in-2 rota. As your confidence and competency grows you will be part of the ambulatory on-call rota, but will have a senior vet support if necessary.

The competitive package includes
• on-site accommodation (including bills) • mobile phone
• use of a practice vehicle
• RCVS, VDS and BEVA fees
• Generous CPD allowance

In addition to a CPD allowance, the successful candidate will be enrolled on the new VetPartners New Graduate scheme coordinated alongside other equine practices within the group and run by specialist Equine Diplomats in both surgery and medicine. They will also get the opportunity to visit other practices within the group, affording fantastic exposure to the hugely varied caseload that equine veterinary medicine has to offer,.

Every step of the way you’ll be supported by a mentor and an experienced clinic team of consultant surgeons, visiting anaesthetists, certificate and diploma holders. As part of a large community of veterinary practices, we’ll make your transition from University to practice, as fun and as smooth as possible.

Furthermore, after your year with us you will have huge opportunities of employment within our now large and exciting group.
